Our Story

Since opening its doors in Tokai in 1999, Super Plants has become far more than a garden centre. It has grown into a destination for gardeners, plant collectors, and anyone looking to bring a little more life, beauty, and happiness into their world.

While plants are what fill our nursery, people are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that gardening should be inspiring, rewarding, and accessible to everyone, whether you’re creating your first windowsill display or designing an entire landscape. Every visitor should leave with exactly what they need, expert guidance they can trust, and a smile on their face.

Our Philosophy

At Super Plants, we often say that we’re not really in the plant business — we’re in the happiness business.

A healthy, thriving plant has the power to transform a room, a garden, or even someone’s day. That’s why every plant in our nursery is cared for with exceptional attention and pride. From the moment it arrives to the moment it finds its new home, each plant receives the care it needs to flourish.

We are passionate about quality, unusual and interesting plant varieties, and creating an environment where customers feel welcome to ask questions, learn, and explore. Our team understands that we aren’t simply selling plants; we’re helping people create spaces that bring joy, calm, beauty, and connection.

Great plants grow beautiful gardens. Great experiences grow lifelong gardeners.

For more than 25 years, Super Plants has been helping both do exactly that.

The Custodian

Under the stewardship of owner and horticulturist Morne Faulhammer, Super Plants has earned a reputation as one of Cape Town’s most respected garden centres. Known throughout the industry for his extensive plant knowledge and passion for horticulture, Morne has spent decades studying, growing, sourcing, and sharing his love of plants.

His curiosity continues to take him around the world, exploring plants in their natural environments and bringing that knowledge back home to the benefit of customers and fellow gardeners alike. Whether through industry involvement, educational talks, or his regular gardening discussions on local radio, Morne remains committed to helping people better understand the natural world around them.
